Their criteria include the unemployment rate, median income, median annual housing costs and the rate of employment growth, number of post-secondary educators and career counselors in each area and the growth in early-to-late career wages.

Recent announcements of new jobs coming to Pocatello have been made by the FBI (50 new jobs) and Amy’s Foods (30 new jobs.)

A recent report from “Good Call,” a college and careers website says that Pocatello is one of the best places for first responders to live and work. Out of 100 cities Pocatello came in at 30th for first responders to live and work. The report ranked the communities on four factors: affordability, job competition, lifestyle, and crime rates.
