Idaho Youth Ranch residential care facilities can accommodate up to 44 children at a time. A total of 1,756 youth and families were served by Idaho Youth Ranch programs statewide in FY09. Some clients received more than one service.
WE ARE PROUD OF OUR SUCCESS RATES
81% of the youth we helped last year have stayed out of trouble, specifically, they have stayed out of state-funded prisons and institutional care (the national rate is 50%).
In terms of education, which we believe is critical to the success of youth, one year after discharge 95% of Idaho Youth Ranch kids had either graduated, completed their GED or HSE, were currently enrolled in school, or working on their GED or HSE.
FUNDING FOR IDAHO YOUTH RANCH PROGRAMS
Services come from generous donors and dollars raised through the sales of gently used items in our 27 thrift stores (located throughout the state). Thrift stores provide local jobs, valuable experience for youth performing community service, and affordable goods for lower-income Idaho families. Thrift stores also contribute to the recycling of used clothes and household items (that might have otherwise ended up in Idaho landfills).
THE NAGEL CENTER
A collection, sorting, and distribution center for the Idaho Youth Ranch Thrift Stores. Supporting 27 thrift stores, this operation also houses the e-books and e-collectibles departments. Idaho Youth Ranch Thrift Stores fund programs for vulnerable youth and families by re-selling donated items that are gently used and in working condition.
